Market for hets?

Snakemother May 26, 2005 01:53 PM

Hello, I have a kinda odd question. I was in the midst of a trade, and offered a young adult female captive bred het for amel fattie for $100 trade value. I was told that this person could get this animal at a reptile show for $50 or under.
It floored me (I paid more than $100 for this girl as a baby), although I haven't paid any attention to the market because I hadn't planned to sell her, just really wanted the trade.
Is this right? Has the market for hets fallen?

In my personal experience that is what some people will try to do to you. $100 is very reasonable for a 100% het Amelanistic female.
I'd be tempted to just wish the other person good luck at the reptile show for $50. For all you know for $50 you may get a gecko that may be sick and dead in 2 months...
Last time I saw a regular normal Fat Tailed Gecko at Petsmart is was about $75 to $80...

Who is selling hets for $50????? The lowest I've seen them is $75. The cheapest adult I saw at a Petco was on sale for $40, a normal adult. But this store does not sell them regularly and needed the tank for new animals.

Yes, you can revive lizards with CPR, and crickets DO NOT transmit pinworms to lizards

One of my het females just produced some awesome Amelanistic Tangerine Striped babies this last week. Very small chance I would sell her even for $100...
