ACF tank questions

cheetochi Jun 08, 2005 10:48 PM

I've got a 10 gallon set up right now,I'll be getting frogs in a few days,I've got much bigger tanks in my storage building, but it's not where I can walk in,grab one and walk out

I was wondering,I heard these frogs like company, would it be better to stay with 1 baby frog,or could two males be fine for a while?they'll be staying at least a semester,if 10 gal is too confining for quick growing frogs, should I just get 5-7 ADF's(I've kept them before, almost had tadpoles, but Slinky and her sidekick Sir Shrimp were poisoned when my folks insisted I try dechlorinating tap water as opposed to getting a few gallons of distilled,Sir Shrimp died quickly, while the larger Slinky died at 3am while I was trying to "detox" her in fresh water

I'll be getting baby's,and I've done reaserch, but I'm not sure how fast they'll grow, would two males fight much?

7-10 gallons of water PER African Clawed Frog, and 1 gallon of water PER African DWARF frog.

if your two ACF are coming in as tads or tiny froglets then they will be OK in a 10gallon for no longer then 4 weeks. ideally they should be put into a 20 gallon long tank so they have the proper room to grow. stunting can occur in small volumes of water, please upgrade them to a larger tank.

see my website for more details on BOTH species of aquatic frog.
