Floating Musk turtle - please help

crestedchris Jun 10, 2005 02:17 PM

For the past two days, one of my musk turtles has been floating. Is this pnemonia? An eye problem?

I've had this pair since 2001 and they have been in excellent health. The smaller one just started floating. Yesterday, I gave her a sulfate dip.

Before I examined her, I noticed the male nip at her back left leg. I have never seen this type of behavior before.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all your help!!
-Chris

Sounds like vet time to me

Can you explain the floating? Is it a lopsided float? Does it look like the turtle wants to be submerged but cant? If I had to guess as of now, I would say your right. I would take it to a vet before it gets any worse.

Maybe she has a ill.You can use shallow water (1-1.5)and put some antibiotic in the water. If she is still eating something ,that is ok
