Safe maximum temperature for ADFs

these hot days are really heating up my tank. the temp is about 83 - 85 degrees. how high is too high?

that is on the hot side for ADF, they should be kept no higher then 80 F, ideally no higher then 78 F.

turn off any light (incandescent especially, they produce heat), move tank to a cooler location (basement, near AC vent, etc). placing a fan level with the top of the tank and keeping the lid open will help to circulate air and keep the water temp down as well. but make sure to tape screen across the openings to prevent escapes.
