recommendations for begginer Phelsumas

nfredenburg Jun 16, 2005 01:07 PM

I've JUST started considering picking up my first gecko. Klemmeri is really beautiful. Any recommendations for other colorful or good begginer Phelsumas?

Thanks,
Nate

First gecko or first DAY gecko? If this is your first gecko, I wouldn't go for a Phelsuma. Most of the species have very specific needs as far as husbandry goes. For a first gecko, I would reccomend a leopard or crested gecko.

If you have had reptiles before and you really want to try a Phelsuma, the go for a Standing's Day Gecko. This is a totally awesome species which are very tolerant of their keeper's mistakes. They like it alittle arid and are usually good eaters. Just do your research of course.

I didn't have any reptile experience prior to buying my first Standings. I just did alot of research before I brought him home. I would definitely recommend Standings Day Geckos as a first. They have great personalities.
