Male/Female/Breeding Questions about African Dwarf Frogs

MissBianca Jun 20, 2005 04:56 PM

I just bought two African Dwarf Frogs about a month ago. They have been a great addition to my aquarium. I've noticed that one is growing twice as fast as the other. Does this mean I have a male and female? I know with most frogs females are much larger than the males. Do they breed well in captivity, because I don't want to have a bunch of baby frogs. Do ya’ll know of any good sites that would be helpful on this subject? Perhaps things that I shouldn’t do that might cause them to breed? Thanks ahead of time for any replies .

i have 5 ADF and 4 are males.they will start singing if you have a male.it sounds like a zzzzz zzzzzzz zzzzzzzzz and the males have white pimples under there front legs.(you WILL see them trust me)

allaboutfrogs.org is a very good site.just clik on care central on the left side .

o yeah and you can try to breed them and save the eggs.but they are extramly hard to care for.they are very tiny like the the size of nothing.lol.you have to have certain temps and HP levels.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I didn't want them to reproduce so its a good thing that it takes a lot of work to hatch the eggs.
