We just got these at the petstore I work at and am looking for all the information I can get about their natural history, biotopes, and captive information. They came in as assorted African Plated lizards, and I dont have the experience with these types to tell species apart. I think they are Yellow-Throated Plateds they look similar but they dont have the yellow throats. They are totally awesome, they even climb up my arm to get the rare waxworm treat. I got some information on the entire family but Im sure that different species require different environments. Any help will be appreciated

This forum has been the best source of information I've found, though it can be rather slow at times. Plated lizards are somewhat rare in the United States, and they are not well-documented.

Perhaps the best general article is this one:

I've had Clyde, a G. validus, since late last year. He eats mostly insects, though we supplement his diet with some fruit (papaya being his favorite) and leaves (he easts the mix we give our iguanas and uros). Clyde also likes to have fresh drinking water.

If you have specific questions, please let me know.
