Terrestrial caecilian photos

Gymnophiona Jul 06, 2005 06:18 PM

Haven't seen much in the way of terrestrial caecilian photos here, so I figured I'd post several of mine. First is one of my Dermophis mexicanus. The next are a couple of my Ichthiophis sp. caecilians. Sorry, I haven't yet been able to get my hands on species characteristics descriptions, and I don't rely on the suppliers "expertise" so I'm uncertain at this time exactly which species of Ichthiophis I have.

Sorry, I've had the caecilians for years, there's no way the supplier would still have them, otherwise I would have bought them up by now.
I've never attempted to breed the Dermophis mexicanus as when I first received them, they were of disparate sizes, and later, I realized some had certain conditions while others didn't. I didn't want to mix them on the chance of introducing diseases to otherwise healthy individuals.
As for the Ichthyophis sp., I simply don't have the appropriate set up to attempt to breed them. From what I've read, you need to set up a riparian habitat with the appropriate sediments, and you have to play with precipitation.
