HELP!!!!! I need to know how to care for a Sagebrush lizard

Nicoleo Jul 10, 2005 05:37 PM

A friend of mine rescued a sagebrush lizard from drowning in a river but neither one of us know exactly how to take care of it. I have other herps myself but I've never dealt with anything like this so any help would really be appreciated.

We've got a trio of sagebrush lizards at my office who've been living comfortably in a 10 gallon tank for over a year. We've got a UV coil on one side and I think a 60 watt spot on the other side. There's an elevated rock pile bellow the spot so that the lizards have access to a basking site in the mid to upper 90's. They don't seem to drink from a bowl so we mist the enclosure every morning. Food consists of calcium / vitamin dusted gutloaded crickets and mealworms.

Thank you so much. They were asking me how to take care of it since they can't release it anymore because they've had it for two months now nursing it back to health after it almost drowned. I've never kept a wild caught reptile or any other wild caught animal for that matter. I've recused and released animals but I've never rescued one that I couldn't let go. I have my share of reptiles and I figured that their temps would be close to my beardies cooler side temps but I wasn't sure and I didn't want to tell them the wrong info and have them cook the poor little thing. I really appreciate your reponse and I'll pass the info on to them so they can make its home better.
