Future as Herpetologist?

Scatz Jul 12, 2005 01:50 PM

Hello. I am going to be a senior in high school next year, and I am about to do some serious college searching. I am good in math and science (taking Calc II and AP Pysics next year), so my parents are pushing me towards good engineering schools; however, Im not sure if this is the career for me. My true passion is reptiles. I have always been fascinated by them. Ive been breeding bearded dragons since I was 12, and I'm still working on my snake collection. My question is, is there a practical future in herpetology. What would I have to study? How is the job market?/Would I be able to comfortably support myself/family? (decent salaries?) Any advice/info is appreciated.
Thanks
Adam

If you are passionate enough about something, then everything has a way of following into place as long as you're willing to pay your dues. Career prospects have everything to do with education. The more degrees you get, the more options you have.
