Oh, say Hi to Isis for me

Got a question.............I've had a young striped female for a couple months now. She's always eaten very well. In comes a new girl, bout 2 weeks ago. While letting the new one adjust I continued to feed the other one, who always ate anything I dropped in the tank. The new one started eating about 4 days ago, and as soon as she started the other one shut down. She just sits in a corner and flicks away any crickets that get near her with her tail. They share a hide when they aren't out at night and I've seen no hostility between them. What might be wrong? She's actually lost a little weight, but not enough to be to concerned about just yet. Any suggestions?

Isis says hi back

And this kind of thing happens all the time. A new girl shows up, the boys start noticing and the old female starts getting paranoid. She will start thinking that perhaps her tail is too fat or the other girl has nicer markings. From there it is all downhill with crash diets, new makeup, perhaps even trips to the plastic surgeon. Honestly, it is sad to see a gecko with such low self-esteem especially when it is so unwarrented. I suggest letting your little striped friend know that she is a very pretty gecko and if anyone thinks the new girl is better looking then obviously they are blind or stupid or both.

Of course, I am sure the above is of absolutely no help at all and probably offended every female reader of this list. As such I will now withdraw into my humid hide and wait until it is safe to come out again :P

Jon

P.S. Seriously, I have no idea, but I do appreciate your efforts to get somebody posting and I wish you and your gecko the best of luck.
