When determining sex of a Viper Boa - can you tell from the tail or do they NEED to be probed - if so how many scales for which sex?
Id far prefer to not have to probe them but really need to know.
cheers

With viper boas, as well as other candoia species the presence or lack of spurs is supposed to be a reliable way to sex them. Males have spurs, females don't. No need to probe.
The males are also smaller in body girth and in length when full grown. Their heads are not as wide as the females. The spurs are fairly accurate also.
