Gold Dust Embyo IMGS

funnyman527 Aug 08, 2005 05:40 PM

This was the second hatchling from a double egg from my trio of p. lat. lat.'s. The first hatchling is doing great. I waited 2 more weeks for this one to hatch before i decided to remove it from the incubator. I found it interesting how close it came to hatching. I wasnt able to determine why it didnt hatch.

This first img is of the embryo still in its embriotic sac, along with it's nutrients.

This last img. is of the embryo "un-rolled" from the fetal position.

Hi funnyman527, do you think if you waited a while longer it would've hatched? I have an egg from my first WC female that may or may not be fertile, she has no mate right now but might've had one prior to being brought into captivity. It's currently incubating at 84 degrees with a 70% humidity. Did the color of the egg change or any noticable signs take place?

The first egg hatched after about 3-4 weeks of incubation in a hova-bator at appx. 80-82 degrees F. and then i still waited 2 more weeks for this second one to hatch without success. The egg started to look discolored (dark grayish areas appeared) and that's when i decided to stop incubating, and dispose of the egg. The embryo definitly didnt look as formed as it's sister hatchling.

Next time this happens, I plan on preserving the embryo in fermaldahyde.
