Nesting substrate for Geeks?

c&f Aug 14, 2005 09:37 AM

Hi; My female Greek is looking to lay eggs and I'm wondering what the best substrate is for her to do so. I'm figuring a soil/sand mix?

Wouldn't that be a better night time setup for babies? You could get them into their sleeping positions and tuck them in all warm and comfy for the night!

I use and recommend a lightly moistened fine sand substrate of at least 6 to 8 inches deep. This allows the tortoise to dig a good well formed nest pocket.
