Whoops! My bad - it opens. Need a side view of the head, the carapace and a location where collected, if possible.

Hi, I don't know if you saw it, but there are 2 photos in my previous message.

This turtle was bought in a fair.
Here goes another photo, front view.

I only could open the imeage of the underside of the turtle, not the other image. The frontal view doesn't help too much . I need to see a side view that shows the side of the extenede head well. I assume you are in the United States but if you are not, the turtle looks somewhat like one of the South American species of Trachemys, either T. scripta ornata (Northern South America) or Trachemys dorbignyi ( Argentina).

The turtle you have is a Chinese thread turtle, aka the Chinese stripe-necked turtle, Ocadia sinensis. It belongs to a group of turtles that are somewhat similar to common North American aquatic turtles.

A decent care page for this species can be found at chelonia.org, under the species care links. These turtles grow into very personable creatures if properly maintained.

Definitely Ocadia sinensis.
