snake plant (sanseveria) is very good. you should do a search on the general gecko forum b/c someone posted either a list of non toxic plants for herps, or a website to a list, awhile ago (up to 2 years ago). i printed it out, but don't have it to forward.

Yes, the Bed-a-Beast substrate is fine and will assist in keeping the humidity up.
