Two cobra bite program...

eunectes4 Aug 31, 2005 02:11 PM

Did anyone see this on national Geographic recently? Last night was flooded with venom programs on National Geographis, Animal Planet, and Discovery Kids. In my opinion national Geographic and Discovery Kids channel were the better of the two. But all were interesting to see their stylistic differences.

If you missed them the National Geographic program took two cobra bites (both N. kaouthia). One was a guy living within the snakes range who had many years of handling experience and a few bites to show off his errors. The other was David Wethers (sp?) a keeper (professional) in Florida you may have seen on Jackass or Wild Boys when they deal with snakes. Anyway, the show documented these two bites in detail for a full hour.

The Animal Planet show took a bunch of venomous animals and told you how long their bite would take to kill a human.

Discovery Kids was just a Jeff Corwin show covering the venomous snakes in the US. I have seen it before but I found out last night my new cable package does not have Discovery Kids...too bad to lack one of the only channels which is educational based and not full of entertaining trash.

Anyway...the point of this post was to basically get opinions and let people know of these newer shows. This way we do not have to talk about the Natures Nightmares program and cry about little things said by the Harrison's which get blown out of proportion on here.

The show was sponsored by the KRZ. Since this thread has not gotten any comments I wonder if I am the only one who has seen it. I know there were some risky handling methods on there but it was clearly outlined what the effects are of those risks. I would certainly watch it again. But I am a sucker for cobra footage...and this had it.

Don't take it personally. You didn't get any comments mostly because it's been discussed to death at lest twice before on this forum...

I looked down the pages to see if there was a thread on it before i commented. I must have missed it. Maybe I will go back a few more pages. I actually made the post just to see what others thought. I must have been out in the woods too long. I didnt see the program until now..I thought it was new lol. And I missed the forum discussion. I need to get back into the tech world. Thanks Larry.
