Need help/advice on feeding hatchling Mole Kings.

ZeusS Sep 17, 2005 11:48 AM

Hi everyone.

I recently acquired some hatchling Mole Kings. Now, I have a pretty good track record on getting hatchlings to feed. However, these little snakes are giving me some trouble. I was wondering if you guys have any tips that could help me get them started. Any particular lizard you guys use for scenting? They have refused to eat hatchling Ground Skinks, so I am a bit puzzled. Thanks for any advice.

I am using house geckos of various ssp. here. You may try using a local small snake like a brown snake or similar also. Maybe keep it 'til it sheds then use the shed skin as a scenting tool.
Skinks are usually pretty good. Have you tried green anoles??
Let us know..
By the way, what locale are they??

Thanks for the advice Mark. They are Montgomery County, North Carolina locale. They have refused live Ground Skinks. I will try Anoles next. They're still so tiny, only several weeks old. I will just be patient and keep trying different tactics, lol.
