Baby Prairie Kingsnake (Care help?)

Ilyana Sep 21, 2005 09:31 PM

Hello,

As of earlier today, I have a baby Prairie Kingsnake. She was sneaking around me house for the last few days, and I finally caught her. She's now in a tererrium with a water dish and 2 inches of sandy soil. I've never kept Kings before (although I have had many other snakes) So I have a couple of questions. First, are they legal in east texas (I know they are protected in some areas)?

And for while I have her, whatever the rules, I need to know basic care and diet for one that's only around 1 foot long by about 1 quarter of an inch thick...

Thank you in advance for any advice!

Prarie kings are legal to keep here in Texas. I keep a number of locale prarie kings. I keep mine at room temperature on newspaper. Try feeing him f/t appropriately sized rodents. If that doesnt work i've never had them turn down ground skinks.
Thats really all there is to it!
