Mystery Lizards from Ecuador

Tom Anderson Oct 03, 2005 08:45 PM

Here is a mystery anole found in the Napo River Basin in Ecuador. Primary rain forest.

Anyone know the species?

Thanks a lot for your help!

This was found about 100 yards from the beach in the central coast of Ecuador.

Thanks again!

Tom,

That looks like a whip tail Cnemidophorus sp maybe one of the lemniscatus complex.

I thought your snake was one the Imantodes species and the anole from the genus Norops.

But then again without critters in the hand I can be hard.

Scott,

Thanks a lot for your help.

I am convinced the one lizard from the beach is a whip tail, Cnemidophorus sp. and the anole a Norops. I think it will be hard for me to determine the species for either of those.

I think the snake was a Dendrophidion dendrophis as Wolfgang suggested after finding some good pictures online.

Thanks again Scott!
