Help with my cali king!!!

snake_gal Oct 06, 2005 07:54 PM

My california kingsnake has not eaten in three and a half weeks! She is 2 months old, and i tried feeding her today, and she just hissed when i touched it with the mouse, but didn't eat it. She is eating pinkies, and has eaten before.
I would appreciate if someone could help,
Snake_gal

shouldnt really worry about this in kingsnakes. let it go for another week without eating, and try a live pinkie again.

i've had milksnakes and kings go off feed (even young ones) for a month or so at times. some can just be finicky eaters.

also, after waiting a week or so, try placing the snake in a brown paper lunch bag with a live pink and some bedding. the closeness of the pink usually induces the snake to feed.

good luck-Zach

I would recommend backing off the Oreo cookies as the main diet. LOL

When was the last time it shed? It might not be feeding because it is in the shed process.

Frankly, I don't see how the poor little thing gets them down. Is her owner breaking them in to small pieces??

future problems with your cal, you might want to think about getting a replacment, maybe a splendida , nigrita or better yet a blotched goini

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Try offering a mouse every week or so. My Cal king does the same thing at least once or twice a year, sometimes for up to five weeks at a time. You might want to try the paper bag thing that someone in this thread suggested. Good luck!
