My Rosy Boa Won't Eat!!

fhornedo Oct 14, 2005 07:30 AM

I have two San Ignacio Mexican Rosy Boas that I purchased October 18th; one male and one female. The female is doing great and has eaten 3 pinkies since I've had them. The male absolutely will not eat. He is completely uninterested in the food items. I have tried feeding him inside and outside of the habitat. I have tried placing him in a small container with the pinky (which works great with the female). I have tried both pinkies and fuzzies. I tried teasing and also tried braining (which I'm not sure if I did right) and nothing has worked. Has anybody else experienced this with Rosys? What else can I do?

Make sure they are in separate enclosures, are warm enough and leave a live pinky overnight with them (preferably in a small enough cage where they will easily find the pinky).

I'll try this on the next feeding. Thanks!

Mexican rosies, especially Baja trivs, can be like that. I've had good luck when all else failed by cooling the stubborn ones down to around 60 deg in the dark for about a month, then gradually warming them up. Some may take a longer cooling period.

I'll probably to get a seperate enclosure to try this with. How do you gradually increase the temperature?

Thermostat or temperature controller.
