There are no venemous boas. The viper boa therefore is not venemous. It is called a viper boa because it's shape is very viper-like.

the reason i asked.cause i typed in viper boa care, and got somthing on eyelash vipers, they sorta looked alike other than colar. i was thinking about getting a viper boa, or a sand boa.i just want to stick to a small snake species.at first i wanted a cal king or a mex black king but those get pretty big.i really am enterested in aboreal snake. but i want a small snake no more than 3 ft. any suggestions?

I would suggest an Amazon Tree boa. While it will get longer than 3 feet they say very thin making them very managable. They come in a variety of colors and patterns also. You could also go with a male green tree python (most would have a better temperment than an ATB), again longer than 3 feet but not girthy. Just do your research and whatever choice you make will be the right one. Good luck Vinnie

No offence intended to anyone but do NOT get an amazon tree boa. Yeah, they're slender, but they still get wider and longer than a cali king. I used to have an amazon tree boa. They have huge teeth and love to use them, ON YOU ! I used to put socks on my hand to handle bitey water snakes and racers that people wanted out of their yards. I tried that with the amazon tree boa. I put two socks on each hand. He bit right through and I bled like crazy. I tried with three socks, same results.
DO look into Solomon tree boas, they are a close relative of the viper boa. They stay small (three feet). They are arboreal. Just try to find one that accepts mice. I've heard from some local breeders that most need to be started on anoles and some never convert to mice

I just wouldn't recommend one to someone who wants something smaller than a king snake.
