Russian Tortoise lethargic

bmulcahy Oct 26, 2005 08:51 PM

My Russian has been very mellow the last two months. He doesn't eat much. He moves around his enclosure a little. Most of the time he just burrows. He hasn't lost any weight and when I pick him up he gets very active. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Well it could be that he is hibernating. My Russian I think is doing the same, He just sits in his hide box all day. My heat also doesn't work upstairs so its like 60 where he is. So I belive he is hibernating.

If you keep the heat up (around 75 to 80) he should stay active. He is probably trying to hibernate since it is getting colder outside. If he is still moving and eating he is not hibernating.
