Rubber Boa eating the wrong way.

Tavia Oct 31, 2005 09:38 PM

Tonight my RB had a very hard time eating his meal. I know sometimes snakes will eat their meal back end first, but it really scared me. The back legs of the pinky looked stuck and it took him some time to get it down. After the meal he seemed to have a hard time getting his jaws back in place and was moving all over the place. I really want to know if I should be worried? He did seem to settle down a bit and curled up under the paper towel. The lump in his tummy looks a bit larger than I would expect. I don't know if I'm just worried over nothing?

They do that.. it's normal for Rubbers to eat backwards, forwards and large meals. They can eat an entire litter of mouse pinks. Fortunately they have a great digestive system that even works at low temperatures. It's quite a contrast to the stomachs of the more sensitive Rosy boa
