frill wont eat, need help

staffo92 Nov 06, 2005 09:37 PM

i recently moved and my frill is not taking it too well. its been about 3 weeks and he still wont eat on his own. i would guess hes about 6 months old but i'm not 100% sure. i had him for 2 months before the move and he was doing great, running around and eating (alot). everything in his enclosure is the same, and the temp is good. he spends the whole day sitting in one spot looking into space. i have his tank covered, but i don't know what else to do. any advice would be great thanks.

. Were do you live? I ask you this because in some parts it getting cold and he/she could be trying to hibernate but I dont know if that is the reason because it sounds to young want to do this.
it could also be the things it is seeing out side the cage or the things its hearing. try putting it in a quiet place and take the cover off. and don't force feed it unless it is a must. this can cause a lot of stress

i live in florida so i don't think its hibernation. he seems healthy other than the fact he wont eat. i've been offering him food by putting it in his normal food spot but he doesn't seem interested. the tank is covered and it is pretty quiet. i've heard they sulk when thier surroundings change but i haven't heard what to do to help snap him out of it.

Try letting the food go loose in the cage, and what are the temps?

i have been letting the food run around in the tank for about a week now. today he finally went after it on his own. he sat there at let me throw about 15 mealworms on the paper and ate every one. i don't think hes out of the woods yet but he is doing better. i still have the tank covered, i don't want to take it off to soon and have him stress out again.

The food running around the cage may be adding stress to him. i wouldnt let it run around while your gone. Try dabbing stage 2 meat or fruit baby food on its snout. It should lick it off and want to eat..
keep us posted.
