I used to keep some Prairie Kings way back when and they were great captives. Keep em like any other King and give em a good temp range to choose from. Good luck.

What Keith just wrote in the above post was right on. I love these kings. They don't get as large as some of the ones in the getula complex, but they are very robust & stout for their size.

I highly recommend prairie kings. They have all the good qualities. Hardy, good feeders, reliable breeders and very handlable. They are not the most brightly colored snakes but rather attractive in a quiet way. Phil

Just as everyone has stated, they are great snakes that I feel are very underrated. Probably because they are not really colorful and dont come in a bajillion morphs!!! But I find them very attractive and a great snake for any collection!!! Get you one, and youll love it!!

This is my female W/C from here in KY. She is pretty average for the prairie kings here in KY.

And here is my male, also KY locale captive hatched....
