Meg is acting like a cobra again..........Why do they do this??????

VolcomHerp Dec 01, 2005 11:43 PM

It makes me laugh a little, when I always catch Meg in this stance while I get her out to have some outside fun in the sun. She likes staying in the postion a good amount of time, and I've noticed she really doesn't flick her tongue at all. Then she'll start on the move agian while flicking her tongue like crazy! I guess what I trying to ask is has anyone ever noticed the funny things your snakes do that make you chuckle to yourself..
take care,
Jake

I don't know...I had a boa that had IBD, and the stargazing was a lot more extreme. She would lift up almost trying to flip backward, and roll her head around. When I used to take my ball pythons outside, they all lifted their heads up like this boa. I don't think it is anything serious.

Recently when I released a WC kingsnake (released in the exact collection location, kept captive for only a few days) - he did that head raising thing, which I had not seen in california kingsnakes (it is quite common with racers, however).

He raised his head at least 8 inches off of the ground to have a look around, and then lowered it to smell the grass and choose a path to crawl off into the bushes.

My baby Pyro Pyro also does it, she does it quite often when out.
