to much basking?

mudmuskkev Jan 10, 2006 07:51 PM

I have have a eastern mud turtle about three inches in length now, and for about two months all he ever wants to do is bask, at night i have to pick him up and put him in the water or else he will just sit there all night, his apitite also seems off, he does not eat everything in sight like most mud and musk turtles do instead he just eats a few turtle sticks everyone once in a while

does anyone have any ideas!?!?!

i am moving him and his tank mate to a larger tank soon and i am going to buy some feeder fish to awaken his apitite, if anyone has any suggestions at all please reply

thanks to all,
Kevin

Is it a wild caught adult? A recent capture?
His behavior sounds like an animal who wants to get out of the water and burrow down in some moist sphagnum moss for a few weeks. Not feeding is also a classic sign of this.
What temps are you keeping him at?
