LOL. Ever see what happens to a venomoid proponent on the venomoid forum? There may be nowhere to go (except according to some the place with the flames and the guy with the horns).

Actually, I have never given the subject much thought until the last couple of days, and resultantly I visited the Venomoid Sub-Forum for the first and last time. Frankly, I do not have the same passion about the subject as many obviously have. Even if the procedure was foolproof, harmless and humane however, I would have nothing to do with it.I simply do not get the point: what purpose does it serve?
Keeping any animal involves assuming some potential risks and liabilities. This is obviously true with respect to reptiles that pose a lethal threat, as in the case of giant constrictors and hots. Recognizing and managing those risks is a fundamental responsibility of the keeper. For me, surgically altering the animal is not a risk management option. Until I am ready to accept and address the risks as they exist, I have no business keeping these sorts of animals. When however, I determine I am able and willing to do so, I figure its my right and I really don't care what others think about my activites of this sort.

These butchers only work on snakes they purchase.

Next time post on their forum.

SHIPPING a venomous snake? How are you going to ship? And if you already knew that CRE would do it then why ask??

YIKES!

The shipping was my first thought. I know its hard to ship harmless snakes, let alone venomous ones! I also did not know it was taboo to talk about this subject, glad it was not me that brought this one up!! lol

the only legal way to ship a venomous snake is via delta dash (airport to airport). The only way to ship delta dash is to have an account with them. Minimum shipping charge for this is 70$. So they would be paying a minimum of $140 without any surgery. And paying someone to pick up the snake at the airport probably would not be cheap...and go through the trouble of shipping it back the same way. Box charges are not yet included.

So it does not make sense for someone to not just purchase from carolina reptile exchange in the first place. I cannot believe I just said this by the way. UNLESS they caught a venomous snake...wanted to keep it...but want the venom glands removed. What terrible luck this snake got.

I might rather have my den gassed, be eaten, and have my head sold as a key chain than have to deal with all this.
