Which is more active?

bradtort Jan 18, 2006 06:18 PM

I want to get a new lizard, so I'm doing some research.

I would like to have a lizard that is somewhat active. One that likes to investigate its surroundings, and once settled in, doesn't run into its hidespot when a human passes near.

I know leopard geckos can be fairly active and calm, but I was considering a fat-tail for something different.

If I were to keep one lizard in a 20-long, under optimal temps, humidity, etc., which would be more active on average: a fat-tail or a leopard?

If you can recommend another variety of desert-type of gecko, please do so.

Thanks.

I have both leos and fattails, and I would say that my leos are generally more active but when feeding time comes the fatties take over.

I have both, typically the leo will come out to see what is going on if there is a lot of traffic by the tank. You have to consiter that both leos and fatties are nocturnal and will sleep most of the daytime. Leos tend to be more to look at as well since they have such a varity of colors, but has stated before fatties put on more of a show during feedings. Lastly, leos are a cheaper purchase initally. I got my leo for $20 at Petco last year and my fattie for about $60 in an old fish store about 7 or 8 years ago.
