can someone pls help me i have a cali king snake and it bites its own tail this is not all the time but when it does happen it constricts itself too,it is not hungry and does not have mites so i dont know why i am seeing this sort of behaviour?

maybe he has the sent of his food on him. and doesn't immediatley realize that its not food he's chewiing on. during feeding my snakes often bite themselves and it usually takes them a second to realize it.
