Boa dumerili is a boa species found on Madagascar and Reunion Island. No subspecies are currently recognized. Adults usually grow to 6.5 feet in length with the maximum reported to be 8 foot, 6 inches . Males usually have longer flatter tails, while females tend to be larger overall. The color pattern consists of a gray-brown ground color with darker patches, forming an effective camouflage against the leaf litter of the forest floor of their native habitat. Found on Madagascar and Reunion Island along the western coast and southwestern regions of Madagascar, it is found in a semi-arid habitat that gets fairly low amounts of rainfall. Their diet consists of small animals, such as birds, lizards, and small mammals and they are also known to prey on other snakes.

Boa Rack
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2112946,2112946
I like the Rack Systems that I have used for a few years now, for ease of cleaning, and handling. But I had Ball Pythons. I do have one Male Dumeril Boa now that i figure I will need to look for a little larger living space for him. Here's the question, is there a Rack system that uses Tubs, that wi...

Travelling with my Dumeril's Boa. Had to take her across state lines--into Florida, of course, where they are having issues with anacondas and pythons and some really irresponsible people. My thought was that as long as I keep her in her cage, things should be just fine.
Well, as bad luck would hav...

She's 7 1/2 years old. I've never seen anything like this
I have 2 other snakes. And amazon tree boa that I've had for 10 years and a recently acquired baby corn snake that I got from a friend.
She stopped eating recently which I thought was odd for her but...

http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2020285,2020285
I picked up a dumeril's boa at a pet store a few weeks ago, and need the opinion of somebody who has some confidence in the area. First off, I know, I myself also find pet stores disturbing and rarely allow myself to purchase anything from such places, but I couldn't let the chance of a dum slip ...
Big question about which rack system
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2014527,2014527
I am hoping to upgrade my snake caging in the next 6 months or so and I want to start really looking into it right now. I currently use big wooden homemade cages. They are great cages and have done a good job but I have way more snakes now than I did back then and want to move to using a professio...

http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2013481,2013481
I've had my male Dumerils over a month now and he has been a wonderful pet.....until two days ago. I've been handling him every day or every couple of days and he has been calm and gentle. Then, two days ago, for no apparent reason, when I reached in his cage to pick him up he struck at me and cla...

I received my male Dumerils yesterday and he seems very healthy. He was shipped cross country from Los Angeles to my home in North Carolina and arrived in great shape. I'm not sure of his exact age, but I think he is about a year old. Apx. 4 feet long and he weighs 564 grams. How often should I ...
Dumerils-No belly heat needed?
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2010624,2010624
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I will be getting a juvenile male Dumerils in about a month and yesterday I ordered a T10 cage from Animal Plastics to house him. Ali at Animal Plastics was extremely helpful and seemed knowledgeable about the housing needs of all types of snakes, including Dums. ...
Best temps & humidity levels
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2007239,2007239
Newbie Dumerils Boa owner and have seen different temps recommended. So, what are the best temps for warm and cool side and what is the best humidity level? And is it true that high humidity levels can lead to respiratory problems?

Breeding size/weight for MGB
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2003063,2003063
Hi,
I've looked through the only Care Sheet I've been able to find for the "Mads" and all it says about size is they should be of "compatible size."
My guess is over 5'6".... How close am I? (I have no guess of weight.)
Thanks in advance!
Dumerils Reatin Sperm?
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=2002949,2002949
I was wondering if a Dumeril clutched early summer 2012 ... in order to have her clutch this year (2013), does she need to be paired with a male again now or is there a chance she'll get gravid and clutch again without introducing a male again?
Thanks for any and all replies!

She just ate, shed, and I cleaned out her cage. She's a very happy snake today.
I think she's beautiful. Much more sedate than the Hondurans I owned, and not a picky eater.
I'd like a bigger cage/home for her. I think she'd be happier in something where she can climb and stuff, but I'm a little bi...

So I currently have a 1.1 pair of adult Dumeril's. I've noticed that both of my snakes have a very large white spot on their chins. I've tried to do my research, but have found no information on this anywhere online. Is this something that ALL Dumeril's have so it's just never discussed? Or am lucky...
Gravid Mad. Ground Boa
http://forums.kingsnake.com/view.php?id=1981116,1981116
Finally! After two years of dealing with my male being more interested in eating the female than copulating I finally secured a second male. She spends 80% of her time getting her body to 90F and the balance soaking. First indication was her absolute refusal to feed. With all my Sanzinia a big zero ...
