Researching on if I should add these to my new breeding pond here in Crestview Florida and was wondering if they will make it thru the winter outdoors in their 9ft pond approx. 1/4 acre. Lows can be down in the teen a few days a year but normally around 30 day around freezing temps. pond does NOT freeze over. Any experts out there care to chime in as I have an opportunity to get a dozen of these gems.

Question for the group, I've had a pair of pig nosed turtles for almost 20 years and they're BIG and I'm much older than I need to be in order to breed them, which was my dream. I have enormous amounts of space (1500 gallons) for the pair but never had the nerve to put them together. Injuries seem probable.
So at this point, I think they should be with someone who would do a reputable / credible job BREEDING them. They got a clutch out at an aquarium in Rotterdam Germany. So it CAN be done.

So my questions:
If I post a classified; based on their conservation-status, do I go to jail for "selling" a pignosed turtle nowadays?
How do I find someone who would buy this pair at a fair price, and actually, credibly, breed them?
(The Atlanta Zoo doesn't want them.)

Hey guys, I was walking in the woods today and came across this little guy, he had dried mud on him like he had just came out of hibernation. I noticed something weird happening with his eyes, I thought it was just water at first but they never opened and he doesn't go inside of his shell whenever you're near, like turtles usually do. So I'm thinking he's blind, I took him up to the house because I didn't want him to fend for himself if he was blind. So, could anyone confirm this and is there anything I could do and should I now care for him? Thanks

I am an advocate of keeping them in BRACKISH WATER because that's where they live in the wild. AND it costs less $$$ and time to maintain - not to mention how much better they look and thrive.

I'm interested in a large (100 ) tank of small turtles... I was thinking of housing the following combo together unless there's any known problems-
spotted turtle
n.diamondback terrapin (cbb in freshwater)
eastern musk turtle
reeve's turtle

HAVE KEPT ALL OF THESE.. and bred the spotteds, terrapins and reeves
spotteds live in very shallow water - poor swimmers.. more terrestrial than you might think
diamondback do much better in brackish water - need lots of water to swim in with basking spot
musk turle - bottom dweller.. also poor swimmer
reeves - poor swimmers.. not big baskers
you could keep all but terrapins in water with lots of plants, etc. so they could climb to surface to breathe / bask

I am new to working with a group of terrestrial Tropical turtles I now have. I know they do not hibernate or more correctly brumate. I just brought them inside because it is beginning to turn cold. I do not know if I should let them cool down but not get too cold to reserve calories or just keep them warm and feed them throughout the winter. I do not understand how they will cycle and breed next spring without hibernating like my other turtles. I really want to give them the best of care and I also want to improve my chances for producing offspring next summer. Any help from any of you guys that work with tropicals would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Richard

US Iguana, Inc. wants to announce and share pics of the World's First and Only Albino Chicken Turtle. He/She is full of vigor and eating everything in sight. We will keep ya'll updated with pics and videos over the next few weeks and months. We are not sure what direction we are going to take, either keep this little guy and start the World's First Albino Chicken Turtle project or potentially sell him to fellow Turtle Nerd.

Hey guys, I'm brand new here and thought I'd say hi and start off with a turtle story. 
When I was in high school, my mom adopted a turtle from a friend who was sick and couldn't take care of him anymore. It took us months to come up with a name for him. He had a different name every week till oneday I just called him Trouble, and the name just stuck. We couldn't have picked a better name for him because he certainly lived up to it. He was quite the escape artist and loved to climb out of his aquarium. We kept him in the kitchen at the back of our house, and one time he escaped and we found him by the front door. There was another time when we took him outside and we turned our back for 5 seconds and he went under the car. My dad ended up having to use a broom to get him out. Trouble ended up going to a new home with a little boy who was obsessed with turtles. What ended up happening was that my kitty Buttercup decided to swing from a potted plant, and the entire thing toppled over, and my poor little man hit his head on the corner of the turtle tank. Needless to say, Trouble's aquarium shattered into a million pieces, but at that point we were so worried about our Butters. I stayed up all night and didn't sleep a wink, but thankfully he was fine. Butters was my little ironhead.
If anybody has any good stories feel free to share them.

I help the local wildlife, and today in my yard I found what I think is a red eared sider giving birth, I know that is what she was doing but what I don't know is what breed it is, It did not have the distinctive RED mark where its ear would or should be. Its underbelly was ORANGE, and NOT AT ALL YELLOW. Went outside to check the spot 5 mins later and she was gone and the spot was covered up.. I told my neighbors granddaughter to leave the spot alone, and she said they give birth live, I said not all turtles give birth live some hatch, But I let the 12 yr old think she was right there is no sense in me a 50yr old adult arguing with a child. Alright, So I have a Mississippi map turtle that had or maybe still has RI. He used to cough and refuse to eat. He had a very lopsided swim pattern before. However, now he eats, he swims most of the time, and he seems rather healthy except for the fact that he can't swim downwards to well. Does this mean he still has RI?

Help Me! I recently purchased a baby turtle from turtle shack about 3 months ago and he hasn't even touched any food. I've tried feeding him live insects,small fish,turtle sticks,freeze dried shrimp, and lots of different vegetables, He is shell is pretty soft now and I'm worried that he's going to die. I have him in a well lit 55 gallon aquarium with a viquarium and one other tetra from my last tank. Please help

I need a LOT more info to help you!
First off, what kind of turtle?
What temperature is the cage?
If it is a water turtle, does it have land space?
What kind of lights?
Did you get contact turtle shack for help?
