LOL!!! We went from that nice 75-degree day to a string of 3 days in the 40s. NC has decided that March Madness has nothing to do with sports and everything to do with potentially getting sick! LOL!

I agree, though, some of these garden and halloween tiger animals are truly incredible, and often overlooked!

Grown-ups develop to around 6 feet (1.8 m) long. They have exceptionally created front teeth that are likely proportionately bigger than those of some other non-venomous snake.

The shading design normally comprises an emerald green ground shading with a white unpredictable intruded on crisscross stripe or alleged 'lightning jolts' down the back and a yellow paunch. The splendid hue and markings are extremely particular among South American snakes. Adolescents change in shading between different shades of light and dim orange or block red before ontogenetic hue sets in and the creatures turn emerald green (following 9– a year of age). This additionally happens in green tree python (Morelia viridis), a python species in which hatchlings and adolescents may likewise be canary yellow or block red. Instead of mainstream thinking, yellow adolescents (as in the green tree python) don't happen in the emerald tree boa.

I tried feeding my 3 month old emerald a live fuzzy. He refused all day and I contacted the breeder and he said they like live hopper mice a lot better. I went and got a small hopper mouse, and he ate it immediately. However, 60 hours later he has a very large lump in the middle of his body. The mouse was not much bigger than the circumference of his body, but it was a little larger. I know they're vulnerable to regurgitation, however the breeder said live hopper mice is what he was on before he got to me. I'm nervous now and if he holds this one down, I plan on switching back to live fuzzy but trying more so at night. Is this normal? It's a good size lump almost 3 days later...any help???

It's an Amazon Tree Boa (Corallus hortulanus). It's not one of the genetic morphs, but a nice yellow with pattern. The color will stay the same for the most part *they do go through an ontogenetic color change. My guess is that the yellow will intensify some and you'll probably also see more black.

I've had this emerald for about 4 or 5 months now. Everything was good up until about two months ago. Then he stopped eating and was more active (during the day) than usual.

At first I didn't think much of it. But it's just gotten worse over time. He has not eating anything in two months now. And he seems to be always trying to escape his enclosure. It's getting to the point where it's rare to see him coiled up.

He is obviously not comfortable and content in his enclosure. However I have no idea why.

I have tried to adjust the temps anywhere from mid 80's to mid 70's (day time ambient temps) and everything in between. Night drops as low as high 60's to mid 70's.

Humidity is around 85 to 95% during the day. And around 65% at night. Whole set up is controlled by a ecozone controller and a mist king system.

If he's an adult he's probably in breeding mode. My male quit when introduced to the female on Thanksgiving and just fed for the first time today! Many, many copulations and the female just ovulated so its looking like he did his job. Separated them last week and it took live prey to get him back into feeding mode.

Emeralds are slow metabolism snakes, he lost little if any body weight throughout the fast.

I got this pair from Jeff Murray a few months ago and I am so happy with them. Really cool mandarin sanzinias. Amazingly dependable eaters and very calm to handle.

The male is more of a traditional mandarin coloring.

The female has kind of a blue/green/grey coloring. Unusual and very pretty.

I keep all my arboreals in Barrs 24" square cages (herpcages.com). Offer way more room. The cages are extremely light, stackable, have adjustable side vents, and hold humidity for a long period of time.

As I use heat panels I opt for the non-screened top.

All have fed first time offered on thawed fuzzies heated up a bit. Spectacular snakes and worth all the work it took to get to this point. Flash unfortunately washed out their subtle coloration.

I'm curious as to the length(s) of gestation you successful Sanzinia breeders out there have experienced. My Mandarin female is absolutely gravid but due to the repeated copulations over 60 days there is no way to pinpoint fertilization. Doug Taylor has already given me his personal accounts but I'd really like to have other's input in this. She is young/small and this will be her first litter.

Awesome! Out of curiosity how big are your breeder Greens? I have a gravid Mandarin due any week but nothing from my Greens....again! I suspect my male is too young/small even though he puts the wood to her yearly. She is a beast but he is probably around 40" if I had to guess. Though I try to keep my Boids lean I will be feeding him more throughout the Summer to put some much needed size on prior to next Nov. which is when it finally cools enough around here to start cycling.

Thanks for the kind words! I still say I'm much more lucky than good. The final tally was 3.7, that evens things up for the 6.2 last time.
