ok, first off, mating season began about a month ago for the standings (april until october). they breed easily in captivity. have you noticed any aggression? do they seem to get along? any mating behavior at all? i seem to have the horniest male standings in the world, he is always mating with his girl. one thing is in the winter, decrease their temps at night and shorten their "daylight." once spring nears, start increasing everything to the norm and they should be ready to go. you're also gonna want to do that if they do start mating and she starts laying eggs because she will need a break and decreasing the day especially, will slow down the male mating behavior.

otherwise, they may just not be compatible. before you separate, watch them closely for awhile. they may just be shy...
