What a beautiful Herman's tortoise (Testudo hermanni). It looks like a boettgeri to me...the Eastern form. Where did you find him/her? It's probably a 'her' because the tail isn't visible in the photo. Males of this species usually have very large tails. Good photo, stunning animal!
