Found by busy road. What is it?

I live in Florida (jacksonville to be more exact). I found this guy tring to cross a busy road during traffic hour. Took him to a couple of pet shops and no one could ID it. Anyonw know what it maybe? I let it go after a few pics. It has these red markings on both sides of its shell.
