Has anyone ever seen a northern water snake that was so light colored and with so much red in it? This is a first for me. At first glance I thought it might be a corn snake but once I got closer I saw it was a water snake. I found this one swimming in Tabbs Creek about 300 yards from where it empties into the Chesapeake Bay (Virginia) so it was pretty salty. I thought that the water snakes that lived around salty/brackish water were really dark colored. This one obviously is not.
