Al,
Thanks for the reply. I know not to be deceived by the " placid and slow " nature of gabby's and rhino's. I know they are totally the opposite of slow and can move in very short but quick bursts of energy. I have been keeping them now on and off for the better part of 10 years, a gabby was my first hot. I have never been tagged by one and don't plan on it, even though most people don't plan on it or want it to happen. I never let myself get too comfortable around them when I have to do maintenance to the cage such as cleaning, giving fresh water and so on. I keep a good distance from them. I keep mine on aspen and my 2 gabby's bury themselves in it while my 2 rhinos don't. I don't use any lights on their cages, just what gets in to them from the light coming through the window and my lizard cages. The 4 of them are doing quite well for me, they drink themselves, hardly ever refuse a meal and defecate quite frequently compared to other rhinos and gaboons I have had. I am trying to find some cb east african gaboons if you might know anybody that would have some for sale, I have only seen a few here on kingsnake lately and at Hamburg but they are all wc animals that aren't what I am looking for as far as color. Any way, thanks for the reply and the info.
