When I logged on this morning and read the current events crawl, I thought that this was a hoax. I never thought that Steve Irwin could meet such an unlucky fate. Of all the dangerous, risky events that he had become so famous for, he lost his life to a stingray. The experts say that a stingray fatality is extremely rare...this ray just pierced him in the most unfortunate place. While I, along with many others, enjoyed watching his crazy and enthusiastic antics, I also greatly admired him for his passion for education and for conservation--especially when it came to the less than cuddly animals, such as crocodiles. His life work will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression with his many fans, and with the animals he fought so hard to bring in to a positive light. I feel for his wife and children, along with everyone at Australia Zoo, for they have lost a great leader and a great person. Steve, you will be sorely missed. RIP, mate. You will live on in your animals, and in the hearts of those you touched.
