I am pretty sure that they could produce fertile eggs. A few years ago I would have said no way but there have been a bunch of hybrid turtles produced in China the past few years that make you wonder. Many of the hybrids are from different and seemingly unrelated genera. So producing hybrids from closely related turtles (like mud X musk turtles) isn't a stretch.
