I just got my FIRST reptile this weekend.
Im truly sensitive to the feelings of animals, its territory and nature.

I bought the Tokay knowing its aggressive but partially belieiving that I could tame it to the point of at least not attacking if I try to clean her tank.

Anyways, today I tried to catch it using a glove. I was partially slow to capture it because I knew it was stressed and when it made that sound I felt like crying cause it feared for its life. It turned completely dark (to hide itself, and perhaps a sign of stress).

I know you're probably all gonna jump on my neck when I say this, but I was using a stick to move it into a corner, and put the stick near its mouth to see how hard its bite it but it licked the stick and did not open its mouth in warning at the stick. does it know the stick is not going to harm it? Or is it kinda tame already?

Does the Tokay stop eating if its stressed? How should I approach the taming of my tokay? I mostly fear for its stress and feel like I should respect its protective/aggressive nature, however, I feel if I have it for 15-20 yrs, it should also feel comfortable with my presence.
