>>I thought maybe the red one had been with you awhile. Well even with the cold weather species it's usually reasonable to keep cb hatchlings, yearlings and two year olds going over the winter. After that I've found that it starts to get harder.

>>I'm working with longissima and that's recently been placed along with persica, situla and hohenackeri in a new genus Zamenis. So I was curious if they exhibited similar captive behavior. I'll check back with you in a couple of years to see if they get picky in the fall.

Hi, John. I kept and bred Persians for a few years back around 2000. I would say they are similar to longissima and situla in requirements. Once started they should do pretty well, but may start brumation slightly earlier than situla. I think I brumated my adults around four months. Interesting snakes if you like longissima, helena, and the like. You could keep them in a 70-82*F. regime, maybe with an undercage heat pad for digestion.

Good luck, all....TC
