This a very good question. However, it is a very loaded question. I have done some reading up on this very issue but I wouldn't feel confident with the answer I gave you. What I will do is give some very good resources.
The best piece of literature I have found and would strongly suggest that every phelsuma keeper own is "Day Geckos In Captivity" by Leann and Greg Christenson. http://www.daygecko.com/index.html

Phelsumaweb is also a day gecko specific site that breeders and keepers from all over the world share experiences, opinions, products and anything else you may want to know. Check it out.
