>>hi, my son found a very small (about the size of your pinky) salamander. i have now idea about salamanders, how to take care of them, or what kind it even is. we live in ct, & the kids would love to add him/her to our family of pets. i was just wondering if this is a yellow spotted salamander, & if it would be easy to keep happy, & healthy? thank you in advance for any information.

It is a spotted salamander. the gold flecks will form more into spots as it gets older. At the size/age of the one in the photo, they are very difficult to keep alive if you have no experience in young sallies. Finding a good food source of the appropriate size can be difficult at times. You are better off letting it go.
