Merry Christmas to you and yours Terry!!! Thanks for the kind words. I've seen your good posts on the western guttata. Very good stuff (although I'm completely unfamiliar with the details of the geographic variations that you guys are discussing). It's really nice to see the photos of the westerns (especially the field shots). I like the intermontana sub. best.
Yeah perlacea may be reduced to a mandarina variant (based on the range of mandarin color and pattern variation I've seen that wouldn't be hard to believe) but it's still something I'd like to see in my snake room (greedy, greedy).
I hope you find the situla, bimacs and dione you want. I've become interested in lighter situla. But it will be a long time before I feel informed enough to wade into that species. I've seen some very interesting pics of bimaculata out there. Very pretty.
Enjoy the holidays Best regards John
>>Ha, ha! That's a great list, John. I hope you're talking with Rex now and then to see how his conspics are doing. He has a nice collection. Good luck ever seeing perlacea (probably not a good species anyway) or bella. I wouldn't mind having a shot at "bella" myself. >> >>I'm still working with some of my snakes, mostly young ones. I don't plan to add much to my collection. I usually don't plan on any, then can't help myself when a great speciman becomes available. I'm mostly working with Pantherophis guttatus, western subspecies, right now. I might find a couple new ones next year I can't pass up. I'd really like to get some examples from the Trans-Pecos region. >> >>For the "not likely" category, I might be interested in some different morphs of any of my current species, i.e. situla, bimaculata, dione, and others. >> >>I plan to part with my calico beauty snakes next season. I'm also down to just one pair of Mandarins. >> >>Good luck with all your projects for next year. You always add great info to the mix, etc. Happy holidays... >> >>Terry
