I've been working on this since October, spent nearly a grand, and it's finally done. I've built large cages before, but the problem I never solved was able to solve was ease of cleaning the water area. This one has a drain in the bottom which is plumbed right into the sump pump. To clean, I just turn a lever, then spray it out with the garden hose. This cage is in 1/2 of my finished basement, and the unfinished half has the sump pump and water hookup. Thanks to Chris Harper, I am very pleased with the way the pond turned out, the biggest help was coating with drylock.
The cage is 8'X4'X 4'. The pond is 18"x8'X9" at the deep end, sloping gradually to above the waterline. Four filters push a fairly strong current from the deep to shallow end, creating a lapping type shoreline.
Thanks for looking.
