Crickets don't work!!

I got some really small crickets and put a few in their cage but the larvae just let them crawl all over them and then went back in the water. Am I doing something wrong? They have hiding places now and seem to be active, they just don't seem to be eating. Any more suggestions? I'm willing to try anything!
