Reddish coloration on the legs doesn't mean that the frog has red leg. Red leg is actually a possible symptom of a bacterial septicemia (that can be caused by a number of different bacteria but is often linked to Aeromonas hydrophilia). However the frog can have and die from a bacteria that is known to cause "red leg" and never develop the red on the legs. In addition, once the frog dies, the blood can pool into the lower legs and belly area rendering it reddish or the reddish color could be due to an irriation of the ventral surface of the frogs.

The lethargy and failure to eat can also be the result of other problems like impaction, and "MBD" ( to name a few).
